Clinical Profile

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College, London, Dick joined Cambridge University Vet School as a Clinical Oncologist. He undertook a Residency in Surgery and became Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery. He remained at Cambridge for over 20 years, during which time he was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Tennessee. In 2003 he founded Dick White Referrals, a Specialist small animal veterinary clinic. Since that time, it has become an internationally recognised centre of excellence, employing over 30 Veterinary Specialists. He has consistently performed and taught all types of soft tissue surgery, particularly ENT, respiratory, reconstructive and abdominal surgery and he is Special Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Nottingham Vet School. In addition to being recognised as a Specialist in Small Animal Surgery by RCVS, EBVS and AVMA-ABVS, Dick is an ACVS Founding Fellow in Surgical Oncology and is one of a very few RCVS recognised Specialists in Veterinary Oncology in the UK. He lectures regularly, both nationally and internationally and has held a wide variety of Academic and Professional Administrative Appointments. Dick was Co-Founder of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and the British College of Veterinary Specialists.

Research

Dick has published over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and contributed more that 40 book chapters to the scientific literature. A full list of his publications can be found on his practice website.
