BVA voices ongoing concerns about XL Bully ban

It is now illegal under the Dangerous Dogs Act for anyone in England or Wales to own an XL Bully type dog without a Certificate of Exemption.

BVA President Anna Judson has highlighted the importance of empathy and compassion as vets continue to provide invaluable support to owners following XL Bully ban. This can include advice on paperwork, updating microchips, helping with vouchers for neutering dogs, or directing owners to dog welfare and rescue charities or behaviourists for advice on muzzling and training.

The BVA remains firmly opposed to this ban and continues to highlight the huge impact it is having on responsible owners and friendly, happy dogs. During these challenging times the BVA continues to support all veterinary teams , colleagues, and those across the animal welfare sector that work to protect the welfare of the animals in their care.
